New York, New York – IMG Worldwide, the global sports, fashion and media company, has acquired a minority equity stake in LiveClips, a company whose technology represents a paradigm shift in experiencing live sporting events, from a one-size-fits-all multi-hour broadcast, to a multi-screen personalised video experience that allows fans to view what they want, when they want on the screen of their choice.
IMG Worldwide will be using LiveClips’ platform to create and deliver personalised game highlight experiences to its customers around the world.
IMG’s investment will allow LiveClips to continue expanding its cloud-based technological capabilities while pursuing similar partnerships with other sports broadcasters, rights holders and licensees, transforming the fan’s experience of sports viewing by delivering personalised content whenever, wherever and however the fan elects to consume it.
“IMG’s investment and their decision to entrust our technology to power the delivery of personalised video content to broadcasters around the world is as good as it gets for a company like ours,” said Lewis Bakes, Chairman and CEO of LiveClips. “IMG negotiates, distributes and delivers sports content to hundreds of customers around the world. Through our relationship with IMG, we have been provided a unique opportunity to capitalise on the explosive global demand for video content on smartphones, tablets, smart televisions and mobile computing devices.”
LiveClips enables sports fans to see customised highlights from games of their choosing. The company works directly with rights owners, broadcasters and digital media publishers, capturing live, post-game and archived content, applying normalised metadata, preparing it for digital distribution and then delivering it to a user’s device of choice. Through this process, LiveClips creates an extensive searchable video library of highlights that can be stitched together for broadcast use or digital delivery. The LiveClips platform is easily scalable to manage any quantity of content required.
“Sports fans are no longer willing to remain tethered to a sporting event for hours; what they want is the ability to be provided personalised video experiences that are delivered to them in real time on the device of their choice,” Bakes continued.
“Over the last several years, LiveClips has established itself as a true innovator in sports video technology solutions, capable of delivering to the sports fan the highly personalised, real-time experience they covet,” said Tyler Nevius of IMG. “Today’s global sports fans monitor multiple teams, games and players and watch content on their TV, smartphone and tablet, sometimes all at once. There is tremendous demand for the type of customised real time video experiences LiveClips enables us to provide to our customers.”
