February 14, 2014 by TVA Editor

Singapore – On March 11, 2014 at 9pm (Jakarta/Thailand 8pm), the Asian Food Channel (AFC), part of the Scripps Networks Interactive family of lifestyle media brands, will premiere its latest original production, Amazing Food Challenge: Fun in the Philippines on StarHub Channel 435. Produced in collaboration with the Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Tourism Promotions Board Philippines, the 13-part series will be broadcast regionally across 12 territories in Asia.

“We are excited to be working with the Philippine Department of Tourism to produce our first-ever reality series filmed in the Philippines.Amazing Food Challenge: Fun in the Philippines is a unique concept that combines the exhilarating world of food and travel with competition and reality. We look forward to future collaborations with DOT to produce more of such compelling, original content,” said Derek Chang, managing director of Asia Pacific operations for Scripps Networks Interactive. “Our viewers in Asia will surely enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Philippines, its cultural heritage and culinary offerings through this program.”

“As one of the leading food authorities in Asia, AFC is the perfect platform on which to showcase the diversity of the Filipino cuisine and culture,” added Domingo Ramon C. Enerio III, chief operating officer of Tourism Promotions Board Philippines. “Amazing Food Challenge: Fun in the Philippines takes viewers to various provinces in the country and shares the heritage and traditions that have been passed down by those who live there. Viewers are sure to be charmed by the beautiful sights and sounds this region has to offer and I’m sure will have great fun watching the competition too!”

Hosted by Malaysian celebrity Sherson Lian, this travel and cooking reality show follows the journey of 10 intrepid contestants as they travel across the Philippines to compete for US$50,000 worth of prizes. Throughout their adventure, the contestants will encounter grueling physical and culinary challenges inspired by the Philippines’ dishes, culture, traditions and landscape. Overseeing the culinary challenges will be Sherson, as well as the program’s resident judge, Chef Rolando Laudico, who is one of the most recognisable names in the Filipino culinary scene today. In each region visited, Sherson and Chef Laudico will also be joined by an expert guest judge who helps to assess the contestants’ performances. Those who underperform will be eliminated until three top contestants remain to compete for the grand prize.
