Singapore – Viki, the global TV site powered by fans, announces major new content deals with Chinese and Taiwanese content partners at the Asia TV Forum.
“Chinese and Taiwanese shows are fast becoming one of the most popular content genres on Viki,” said Razmig Hovaghimian, CEO and co-founder, Viki. “While over 30% of the viewing audience for these shows comes from North America, we know this content has global appeal with top shows being translated into over 40 languages.”
To meet the growing demand, Viki has partnered with Sohu, one of the top online video portals in China, to distribute its original online series including idol dramas and sketch comedies Unconditional Love and Never Give Up Dodo starring Peter Ho, Another Taste of Love featuring Godfrey Gao, among other titles.
Viki also broadcasts period dramas and online series from leading Chinese broadcasters Huace TV and LeTV.
Viki has also signed on with Taiwan’s TVBS to exclusively broadcast the Taipei 101 New Year’s Eve Countdown live to the rest of the world. And, Viki has renewed its agreement with Sanlih Entertainment Television, also from Taiwan, and will bring all of its on-air dramas to Viki in 2014.
