Reed MIDEM has announced that it is unclear whether the industrial action will disrupt, delay or cancel any flights in France, but that by law, at least 50% of French flights are maintained during any industrial action. Additionally, the French Civil Aviation Authority has informed Reed MIDEM that airlines normally maintain long-haul international flights during industrial action.
Reed MIDEM recommends that travellers contact the airline company to determine how it intends to handle their flights on October 10, 2013. Furthermore, should connecting flights originating in Nice be impacted, train services from Cannes are available to most major European destinations including London, Milan, Geneva, Frankfurt and Brussels.
A Travel Clinic will be available in the MIPCOM Registration zone, as of October 8, to provide travel advice, make new reservations and issue airline tickets if necessary. The MIPCOM Conciergerie and HelpDesk will also be ready provide assistance. On October 9 and 10, Reed MIDEM will add more buses to the shuttle fleet between Cannes and Nice airport that operates on the hour, every hour, between 13.00 and 21.00, and the number of taxis available on October 9 will be increased, with dispatchers on hand to encourage taxi sharing.

Update – October 7, 2013:
Reuters has reported that the air traffic controllers union in Europe (ATCEUC) has called off a strike planned for October 10, 2013, after the European Commission signalled its willingness to renegotiate plans to liberalise civil airspace.
The union has said it opposed the commission’s targets of having a tenfold increase in flight safety while cutting costs by 50 percent, added the report.
