The Newsroom has received three Emmy nominations, including “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series” for Jeff Daniels, who plays Will McAvoy, anchor and managing director of the cable news programme. S2 premieres in Asia on August 5, 2013.

At a press conference in Singapore on July 23, 2013, Munn, who plays financial news reporter Sloan Sabbith in HBO original series The Newsroom, described her experiences working with Oscar winner Sorkin. Munn said that Sorkin’s strict adherance to the script is seen by some as a pair of handcuffs, but that she thinks of it as a key that allows her to fully understand her character. 

Also, as a woman working in a newsroom, Munn explained how her character Sabbith understands the reality of the industry. On learning that she is asked to report because of her appeal to audiences, Sabbith accepts this as a small barrier in her mission to provide accurate information to viewers, explained Munn.
