Havoc Television launches in Asia

December 5, 2012 by TVA Editor

Singapore – Multi Channels Asia (MCA), Asia-Pacific’s distributor of independent pay TV channels, has launched the linear channel, Havoc Television (Havoc 247), in the region. Through several carriage deals with ABN (Malaysia), Mediacorp Toggle (Singapore), Skymedia (Mongolia), Sky (Sri Lanka), Phnom Penh Cable Television (Cambodia), Skynet (Myanmar) and MeTV (Thailand), Havoc 247 becomes the first linear social TV channel to launch in Asia-Pacific.

Havoc 247 is a HD channel featuring fast action sports such as skating, snowboarding, surfing with a mix of indie music like hip hop, alternative, reggae, punk, metal, and electronic. Exclusive live music concerts and events are included as well. The channel integrates Facebook and Twitter in the channel, displaying live feeds from artists, athletes as well as viewers on-screen creating a live, interactive, global conversation. Havoc 247, with a target market of 18 – 34 year olds, is orientated towards the multi-screen world that the young generation lives by with the same linear TV experience both online to PCs and to mobile devices and tablets.

Gregg Creevey, Managing Director of Multi Channels Asia, commented: “Pay TV operators have struggled to capture the younger demographic as television and pay TV in particular is increasingly not part of their primary media consumption habits.  In the USA where Havoc 247 is the leading channel in its genre, it has been successful by leveraging social media to build engagement and make TV relevant again to this elusive demographic.  We have full confidence that Asia, with the greatest concentration of youth and where new technology is quickly embraced that the value proposition of Havoc 247 will quickly replicate its success at home.”

“According to research, almost three-fourths of our young viewers multitask while watching TV – surfing online, talking or using mobile devices, or sending instant messages and text messages. Our goal at Havoc Television is to remain at the forefront of the social TV experience by allowing viewers to be more interactive and engaged by integrating popular social media outlets, such as Facebook and Twitter, as part of their viewing experience,” said Ryan Kresser, CEO and Founder of Havoc Television.
