ATF 2012: BBC Worldwide licenses music programmes to CCTV-15

December 6, 2012 by TVA Editor

BBC Worldwide’s Sales & Distribution business unit in Asia has licensed a package of over 80 hours of music programming to CCTV-15.

The package includes Doctor Who at the Proms and various other BBC Proms titles, plus the Brit Awards 2012 (1 x 90’), Take That: Progress Live (1 x 75’), and the Royal Variety Performance2010 (1 x 120’).

CCTV-15 is the music channel of Chinese state broadcaster CCTV. Launched in 2004, it broadcasts a broad range of genres from classical and traditional Chinese music to contemporary pop.

Joyce Yeung, General Manager & Senior Vice President, BBC Worldwide Sales & Distribution Asia, commented, “We’re really proud to be working with CCTV to bring the best of British music to Chinese viewers. Music is becoming an increasingly popular part of our catalogue, which includes performances by world-renowned artists including Coldplay, U2, Jay-Z and Adele, so we hope to make many more of these sales to broadcasters across Asia.”
