Singapore – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) has unveiled a major acquisition deal with FOX International Channels (FIC) to offer 40 of the broadcaster’s channels on mio TV, most of which will be available from October 1.
FIC is one of the largest international broadcasters of globally recognised branded subscription television channels. The suite of channels making their debut on mio TV cuts across a wide range of genres and includes top-rated channels such as National Geographic Channel, Star World HD, FOX Movies Premium HD, and STAR Chinese Movies.
Goh Seow Eng, Managing Director of Television, SingTel, said, “With these new channels, our customers will enjoy a top-notch combination of both linear and on-demand entertainment to meet their needs. True to mio TV’s promise, we are also providing many of these channels in brilliant High Definition (HD) at no extra charge.”
The deal brings the total number of channels on mio TV to 111. mio TV will be restructuring its channel numbering system with the launch of the new FIC channels.

In response, pay-TV operator StarHub’s Vice President of Home Solutions & Content, Iris Wee, commented: “We had announced last year that our FIC partnership renewal was on a non-exclusive basis, so this doesn’t come as a surprise to us. StarHub customers still enjoy a more comprehensive range of content from us, through a stable and reliable network that delivers a superior viewing experience.”
