London – Entertainment One Family (eOne Family) has secured a series of acquisitions from major broadcasters across Asia for Peppa Pig and other shows in its portfolio of children’s programming that will significantly extend their reach to audiences in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.
In Taiwan, Eastern Broadcasting Corporation has acquired Peppa Pig for Yo Yo, its children’s pay-TV channel, and will also be distributing the series on DVD in the region. Shows picked up by Taiwan’s FTA broadcaster PTS include Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom and BAFTA award-winning animated feature short Lost and Found, with plans to broadcast both this year.
Hong Kong terrestrial TV channel TVB has snapped up both Peppa Pig and Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom and episodes will begin airing imminently. Leading Hong Kong home entertainment distributor Deltamac has also been signed to handle DVD rights to both shows and the first DVD releases will launch in Hong Kong towards Christmas.
Further bolstering eOne’s broadcast strategy in Asia are acquisitions from MediaCorp in Singapore which has picked up the rights for Peppa Pig, Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom and farmyard based pre-school series Tractor Tom for its free-TV channel Okto. In Thailand, Cineplex has inked a deal for Peppa Pig, Humf and Tractor Tom.
