Shanghai-based children’s virtual world developer and operator Taomee, has launched an online video channel V.61.com. The channel offers language and mathematics education content for primary school children, as well as videos about history, humanities, and travel. An animation based on Taomee’s virtual world 51Seer, will begin broadcast on 10 January. Saban Capital Group, which recently entered a joint venture with Lionsgate to form Celestial Tiger Entertainment, is an investor in Taomee. V.61.com plans to offer 1,000 cartoons and five to ten animated films over the next three to five years.
