Los Angeles, CA – Europe-based motion picture studio Gaumont, has launched Gaumont International Television (GIT), a television production and distribution unit. This unit marks Gaumont’s interest in moving beyond the film territory, into the TV business. It will produce drama and comedy television programming for the American and international markets and already has a number of projects in development. The first two titles that the company will be offering at this year’s MIPCOM are Hannibal, a one-hour drama series, written by Bryan Fuller, and Madame Tussaud, a six-hour miniseries written by Michael Hirst. Veteran US television executives, Katie O’ Connell and Richard Frankie have been tapped as CEO and COO, respectively.
