Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – LI TV INTERNATIONAL announced two new carriage deals for its network, Li, all within a short period of 14 months since its inception in August 2009. These new carriage deals are Taiwan’s high-definition satellite TV provider DishHD and Chunghwa Telecom MOD. Pronounced as “L”, “i” and short for Life Inspired, the channel is now available across a four market, eight platform footprint – on Singapore’s SingTel mio TV; Indonesia’s Indovision, First Media HomeCable, and AORA; Taiwan’s DishHD, TFN New TV, and Chunghwa Telecom MOD; and Malaysia’s Astro B.yond. Li is now available on the Premier Package of DishHD on channel 242. The channel is set to be available on Chunghwa Telecom MOD later this month and has also been made available on the Astro B.yond package on channel 706 since 1 October. Anne Chan, general manager of Li said, “We are delighted to work with DishHD, Chunghwa Telecom MOD as well as Astro B.yond. Since our maiden launch in Singapore last year, we’re excited to now be on eight platforms throughout four markets in such a short time span, marking a significant accomplishment for the network. We’re now on track to complete our expansion to five priority markets come November with announcements of more carriage deals.” “Taiwan is one of our major markets and we’ve always planned on launching there. Furthermore, the growing digital platforms create a big demand for our type of exclusive content,” Chan told Television Asia Plus. Asked if there have been any challenges impeding rollout, Chan said, “On our part, Li was first launched right in the midst of the global economic crisis when operators lacked channel capacity. That alone was a major challenge. Over the past year, the regional economic climate has demonstrated an improvement and as much as this has helped, operators still remain cautious about channel selections.” “I think the biggest factor speeding up rollout is due to the fact that Li captures a growing segment, which is affluent Asians who are on the lookout for quality lifestyles,” she added.
