Singapore – SPE Networks – Asia marks another milestone in its history as it embarks on a business expansion strategy with a diversification into Asian entertainment. An output deal with Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) Contents Hub has been signed, where SBS Contents Hub will supply the bulk of the Asian entertainment programming which will be showcased in a brand new network to be launched by SPE Networks – Asia, called ONE. The new channel will be available in high-definition on 1 October 2010 in Malaysia on the Astro b.yond platform. Venturing into Asian entertainment is a first for SPE Networks – Asia, and comes hot on the heels of completing the Southeast Asia footprint distribution of one of its newer channels, AXN Beyond. Under the agreement with SBS Contents Hub, SPE Networks – Asia will have the right to select all current and future new titles from SBS and air the shows first and exclusively on ONE. SBS is one of four major national television networks in South Korea, producing some of the top award-winning dramas and variety shows that were hugely popular in other parts of Asia every year, including Cruel Temptation, He’s beautiful!, Brilliant Legacy, Terroir, The Painter of Wind, IL JI-MAE : The Phantom Thief, Lobbyist, Money War, On Air, Yuhee, the Witch, and the Lovers Series (Lovers in Paris, Lovers in Prague and Lovers). Beginning on 1 October, a dedicated two-hour SBS-branded time block will be set up during prime time, where viewers can expect to catch the latest scripted drama series from SBS, like I’m Legend and My Girlfriend is Gumiho, which are currently airing in Korea. Selected drama series will even be available on ONE just weeks after their telecast in Korea. Other programmes that viewers can look for include drama series, My Ex and The Neighbour, Daring Woman, The First Wives Club, Princess Ja Myung; variety show, Star King; music programmes, K-POP Countdown and Kim Jeong Eun’s Chocolate Concert.
