Singapore – This month, Channel NewsAsia goes for a fresh on-air look, a strong lineup of documentaries and changes to staple programmes. Donovan Castillo-Mohlman, vice president of network programming and promotions, says, “It has been a tumultuous decade for Asia and the world economy. As Asia leads global recovery and this is truly looking more like the Asian millennium, we continue to reflect the dynamism, change and reality of Asia today. We will continue to listen to our viewers and partners who have given us valuable feedback throughout the years, and refresh our programming when we need to.” A bumper crop of blockbuster documentaries will debut on Channel NewsAsia this month, including titles like Terror in Mumbai (which won the 2010 BAFTA for Current Affairs); A Crisis Within, an exclusive on Channel NewsAsia bringing viewers to the heart of the Thai political crisis; In The Name of Our Fathers, a look at the political dynasties in the Philippines; and Spirit of Singapore: Life After Death, a series that re-examines some of the national tragedies that shook Singapore in the last two decades. Signaling the first of the changes on Channel NewsAsia from 5 July 2010, will be a newly designed information bar – to give viewers more information in a clearer, more streamlined manner. This will enable more information to be displayed during breaking news alerts and to give viewers more information on upcoming programmes.
