Singapore – CNBC announced the appointment of Junji Sumitani as vice president, advertising sales. Based in Singapore, Sumitani will report to Satpal Brainch, president and managing director of CNBC Asia Pacific. In this capacity, Sumitani will be responsible for all advertising sales from the Asia Pacific region. He will oversee CNBC’s regional advertising sales and sales support teams and will also be responsible for developing strategies to provide custom made integrated solutions to clients. He joins CNBC after 14 years with CNN International. Previously, Sumitani oversaw advertising sales for CNN International and its interactive contents in Southeast Asia and managed the advertising sales representatives in the region. He first joined CNN International’s sales operations division in 1995 and during his tenure there was based in Atlanta, Hong Kong, and Singapore. He pioneered new and groundbreaking multi-platform initiatives with blue-chip international corporations that have been recognized at Cannes and the Singapore Media Awards. In addition, CNBC announced the promotion of Jacqueline Lam to vice president of marketing & distribution effective immediately. Based in Singapore, Lam will report to Satpal Brainch, president and managing director of CNBC Asia Pacific. In this expanded role, Lam will be responsible for providing strategic direction to the marketing function and further building the CNBC brand with advertisers, partners and their core audience. Lam joined CNBC Asia five years ago as manager of affiliate sales and rose to her most recent position of head of network distribution. She has expanded the network across Asia Pacific and will continue to oversee CNBC’s efforts to enhance distribution opportunities on all TV and digital platforms. Lam is a graduate of Oklahoma City University, where she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, as well as a Diploma in Business Administration from the Singapore Polytechnic.
