ESS is already SingTel’s production partner for Football Frenzy, can we expect a similar arrangement for BPL? We have always been known for our signature style top-quality production with engaging and entertaining match presentation and we have a strong experience in building and strengthening top-class sports properties including leading football properties such as BPL, The FA Cup and AFC among others, on our networks. This has helped us establish a very strong bond with sports fans and acquire an iconic status for our brands. As SingTel’s production partner for Football Frenzy, we are proud to have reaffirmed our position as the choice content developer and now with our new association with SingTel, we shall continue working with them to explore various opportunities on different fronts that our association provides. At this point of time, this is what we can share as we continue to work with them. Why the decision to switch from StarHub to SingTel? Did StarHub’s choice of another production partner for the current BPL cycle contribute to your decision? The decision was based on business requirements. We have shared a strong relationship with StarHub over the years and we have immense respect for them. Through StarHub’s various platforms, we have showcased top class international and regional sports properties to viewers in Singapore on ESPN, STAR Sports, STAR Cricket and mobileESPN. As Asia’s leading sports content provider, we are committed to showcasing the best sporting content from around the world and the region to fans in the most entertaining and engaging manner and we are very heartened to see that SingTel shares this belief with us. We look forward to working along with them and we are very confident that this association will enrich & enhance the viewing experience of fans. Did ESS and SingTel join forces for the BPL bid? What about the rest of the region? Because of certain confidentiality and non-disclosure clauses around the process, we are not in a position to discuss this. The bidding was done in manner following our focused and well planned strategy for content acquisition across our networks. Of the 21 countries that went to bid during this round, we are glad to renew our long term relationship with the FAPL in 18 countries including: India, Indonesia, East Timor, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, North & South Korea, The Philippines, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and in partnership with Astro for Malaysia & Brunei. This win reaffirms our commitment to sports fans in Asia and our longstanding partnership with the FAPL. SingTel has said mio TV will carry seven ESS channels (ESPN, STAR Sports, STAR Cricket, ESPNEWS) – what are the others and is an HD channel anticipated? As an organization, we continue to look at expanding our offering to our fans and partners and are always evaluating various opportunities. We will be working with SingTel on various such opportunities stemming from this partnership and will make an announcement once the details are ready. Can you please share more information on ESPNEWS and ESS’s new channel initiatives? We are driven to build a business that is sustainable and scalable across sports, platforms and markets while serving the fan and working along with our business partners. Their feedback is a critical input for us while we explore, examine and evaluate various initiatives across content, formats, modes of delivery, platforms and markets.
