Singapore – MediaCorp has just launched a time-belt on Philippine channel TV5. For two hours from 12pm to 2pm every weekday, the channel will telecast MediaCorp’s dramas and sitcoms. All programmes are dubbed in Tagalog and 520 hours of content are slated for telecast in the first year alone. Doreen Neo, senior vice president of MediaCorp Studios and Content Distribution, explains, “The TV5 time-belt is an excellent platform for our home grown content. It will help establish familiarity and build habitual viewership of our content in The Philippines. This is a great opportunity for us to enter a new market, following our earlier time-belt established in Malaysia.” To launch the time-belt, MediaCorp has scheduled blockbuster of the year The Little Nyonya, and sitcom evergreen Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd. Following these two titles will be the highly rated dramas Metamorphosis , Women of Times, The Ultimatum, and popular English sitcoms such as Under One Roof.
