Ten Sports say they can now transmit three more channels on their satellite space after changing transmission systems. The Dubai based operation has changed from the Mpeg 2 to the Mpeg 4 transmission system, and say that the change-over is an important one for their business. Peter Hutton, COO of Ten Sports, confirmed, “The system has first of all allowed us to improve the picture quality of all 7 of the channels that we currently transmit on the IS10 satellite, but also allows us transmit up to 10 channels in that same space in the future. We are looking at options for both expanding our own operation and to producing more channels for third parties to use this extra capacity.” Currently Ten Sports transmit three of their own channels across Europe, the Middle East and Asia including the Indian sub-continent as well as 5 channels for third parties, including Singapore’s most viewed channel in the sports category, ‘Football Channel’, 2 Asian football channels for Goal TV, English language channel Prime Sports for Arab broadcaster ART and Cricket Plus, the 24 hour cricket channel for Directv in North America.
