Singapore – CNBC Asia Pacific is back in Taiwan after a three-year hiatus in that market. From today, 1 July 2009, CNBC Asia Pacific is available on Channel 309 to subscribers on TFN Media’s newly formed digital CATV service, New TV. TFN Media is wholly owned by Taiwan Mobile Co., Taiwan’s leading mobile operator, which has over 6.5 million mobile subscribers and 550,000 cable subscribers in the market. TFN Media is targetting 100,000 subscribers to New TV within 3 years. “This launch is the first of more distribution expansion we want to push through in this market,” said Jacqueline Lam, head of network distribution, CNBC Asia Pacific. “We are pleased to be able to bring CNBC to households in Taiwan through ‘New TV’ as it provides Taiwan viewers the access to invaluable global financial news and information coupled with high profile guest interviews that only CNBC can provide and is recognized for,” she added. “New TV’s launch is a milestone for Taiwan Mobile. It represents our determination and ability to be more than just a telecommunications company.
