Kuala Lumpur – Media Prima Berhad (MPB) announced that YBhg. Dato’ Abdul Mutalib Razak will be retiring as the Independent Non Executive Chairman of the Board. Meanwhile, Malaysian news industry veteran, YBhg. Datuk Johan Jaaffar – who is currently the chairman of the Board of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka – will take over the position and will be appointed as MPB executive chairman. YBhg. Datuk Johan Jaaffar was the group chief editor as well as executive director of Utusan Melayu (M) Berhad between November 1992 and July 1998, during which he was responsible for the daily and weekly papers, as well as 13 other magazines and journals published by the Group. During that period, he concurrently served as a board member of national news agency BERNAMA as well as being a member of Malaysian Business Council and MDEC. YBhg. Datuk Johan Jaaffar will assume all board posts vacated by Datuk Mutalib, including the chairmanship of TV3 as well as other Group subsidiary companies.
