TV5MONDE has launched a brand new free bilingual (French and English) mobile portal that offers a full range of complementary tools and services to Asian audiences, and due to serve as a test phase for further digital media developments for TV5MONDE around the world. Alongside TV5MONDE’s current distribution on cable, satellite, ADSL and IPTV, the mobile medium will make possible ease of reach to new audiences and younger demographics. The TV5MONDE mobile portal is an online rich website automatically optimized for all mobile operating systems (including iPhone and BlackBerry) and specifically designed for consultation on any internet-enabled mobile device such as a mobile phone, a PDA or a game console. This web-to-mobile telco-independent platform is able to recognize over 8,000 devices to deliver mobile content in the 45 countries covered by TV5MONDE Asia. “Launching a mobile website is a decisive first step for us into the social media environment and sends a clear message to our audience that we intend to keep innovating as the channel turns 25 years-old,” says Alexandre Muller, MD, Asia. Future developments in the next three months include a Facebook application (synchronized with the mobile portal) and TV5MONDE areas on YouTube and Dailymotion. TV5MONDE has also launched a new on-air and online design to make its programme schedule more identifiable to the viewers and refresh the channel’s look. The new look highlights the global and multifaceted nature of the channel while reaffirming the channel’s original commitment to the universal values of cultural diversity, freedom of opinion, environment awareness and multilateralism.
