BBC Worldwide Productions India has been commissioned by Sony Entertainment Television to produce series three and four of Dancing with the Stars at its Mumbai production base. Dancing with the Stars (Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa) is the premier dance show in a market rich with dancing competitions. The programme reaches audiences of over 20 million and attracts some of the biggest names in India. Shilpa Shetty of Celebrity Big Brother fame was a former judge while previous competitors have included the Indian Ugly Betty Mona Singh, cricketer Ajay Jadeja and pop singer Mika. The 14 week series will feature 12 celebrity competitors with series three beginning transmission in February. Dancing with the Stars, known in the UK as Strictly Come Dancing, has been licensed by BBC Worldwide to over 30 international broadcasters. Countries ranging from Chile and Israel to Russia and China broadcast their own versions of the format.
