An Al Jazeera team of journalists who were held for six hours by Israeli authorities near the southern Israeli border with Gaza were finally released. The team had been filming at the Kisufim Crossing when they were detained by the Israeli military. They were questioned and then handed over to the Israeli civil police. After being interviewed under caution they were asked to sign a declaration that they would not re-enter the closed military zone as a condition of their release. The team was led by correspondent Alan Fisher, who has covered the Israeli-Palestinian conflict many times, with John Timpleton and Yossi Avishai. The Al Jazeera team were later forced to hand over two discs containing footage which had been filmed in the morning. The team had been working inside the zone, alongside other international broadcasters since the beginning of the present Gaza crisis.
