Singapore – The Singapore Sports Council (SSC) and the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) launched the SSC-MDA Sports Media Fund to support the creation of local sports content for local and international consumption on different media platforms, and in particular digital media. The S$1 million (US$ 682,300) Sports Media Fund is to seed private sector’s initiatives to drive the growth of the sports media eco-system and to develop sports media related capabilities and competencies to support the growth of this eco-system. The fund follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the SSC and MDA in April 2008 to develop the sports media and broadcasting sector. Companies are invited to submit applications for the Sports Media Fund via www.ssc.gov.sg. The fund will be opened for submissions every two months with the first round of submission from 3 to 28 November 2008. The proposals will be evaluated by a panel, which comprises of members from SSC and MDA.
