Singapore – SingTel announced the launch of a new Chinese language channel – Mei Ah Drama Channel. mio TV subscribers will now have access to drama series from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea on the new channel, which premiered on mio TV channel 73 on October 20. Mei Ah Drama Channel is the first 24-hour drama channel in Singapore featuring Asian dramas screened in their original languages and with a dual language option. Korean and Japanese dramas will feature a Mandarin option and over 50 per cent of the shows will include English subtitles. Manga fans can also look forward to Tokyo Juliet and Honey and Clover from Taiwan which are adapted from popular animation series, as well as Iryu Team Medical Dragon, a popular Japanese seinan manga, and Yamada Taro Monogatari, starring Japanese boy band Arashi members – Ninomiya Kazunari and Sakurai Sho. “Idol dramas adapted from manga have proven to be popular with TV audience in Singapore, and the addition of Mei Ah Drama Channel will up the ante in providing greater choice for our customers,” said Low Ka Hoe, director of mio TV and content.
