Singapore – Lotus Channels’ managing director Gregg Creevey has told Television Asia Plus that all is well with the planned female-skewed channel, despite delays to its intended roll-out date. “We do have some carriage agreements in place, but we are waiting on downlink and regulatory approval in some markets – especially India,”said Creevey. “We are still moving forward, there is consistent interest in the channel.”He added that Astro’s government-imposed limit on foreign-language channels would be a hold-up to any new channel’s Southeast Asia rollout strategy. Lotus Channel’s majority shareholder is Multichannels Asia, which is also handling the roll-out of ITV Worldwide’s (formerly Granada International) new general entertainment channel. Creevey said that the only connection between Lotus Channel and the new ITV channel was that they are both being handled by the same distributor. “They are two separate channels, both being handled by Multichannels Asia,”he said. Asked whether the two channels would be bundled together, Creevey admitted they do compliment each other content-wise, and that they would probably share a common distribution focus would be digital, IPTV and new DTH platforms.
