Seoul – TV channel KBS World launched on Vietnam’s digital terrestrial network VTC and on Guam’s only IPTV platform GTA as of September 1; and in Uzbekistan and Turkey as of Aug 1 and October 1 respectively. 2 million Vietnamese viewers can watch KBS World via VTC’s digital terrestrial network – KBS World’s first carriage deal via terrestrial network on a 24/7 basis. Considering the significance of terrestrial broadcast, KBS World now gets a credit Also, KBS World is newly available in GTA, the only IPTV platform in Guam as of Sep1. KBS World was previously in a local cable network’s premium package – the GTA deal makes it possible for KBS World to be distributed in the basic package of brand-new IPTV service. This August saw UKS, Uzbekistan’s cable network association with 300,000 households, starts to carry KBS World in the basic package of its cable service 24/7. In addition, TurkSat, the biggest MSO in Turkey is going to broadcast KBS World in its digital basic package this October. Starting from major cities like Istanbul and Ankara, the service is scheduled to be expanded nationwide. Launched July 2003, KBS World is now available to 43 million audiences in 65 countries around the world.
