Singapore – Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific announced that Discovery Turbo, a new channel offering adrenaline-fuelled entertainment will launch in place of Discovery Real Time on September 22. Targeted at men aged 18 – 54, Discovery Turbo will cover a range of topics including the history, science and engineering of everything motored; car, boat, bike and air shows; Formula One racing; DIY; car clubs and motoring trends. Discovery Turbo will launch with a four-day programming special, Turbo-Charged, from 22 – 25 September, in conjunction with the Formula One night race taking place in Singapore. The channel will be available in Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand from September 22. The company’s India business has also applied to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to launch Discovery Turbo as a 24-hour channel in 2009. Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific also announced that Discovery Science and Animal Planet will re-launch with fresh brand identities across the Asia-Pacific region on October 1. The network will re-launch with a revitalized on-air identity which includes a new logo and a ‘Question Everything’ tagline, across Asia-Pacific on October 1. The re-launch signals an updated schedule and an increased amount of programming focused on science and technology. The new logo features a stylized ‘Sc’ positioned against a square background. Animal Planet will also launch a new look this October in Asia-Pacific, the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. In addition to a new logo and on-air graphics package, the new Animal Planet will offer a variety of new programming that brings to life the diversity of the animal kingdom.
