Singapore – MediaCorp and Odex Pte Ltd announced a collaboration to offer Japanese anime programming within the same week as its premiere in Japan. Cult anime titles such as D.Gray – man, Neo Angelique Abyss, Zero no Tsukaima III, and Allison & Lillia will be available on MediaCorp’s Arts Central channel and new online anime channel AnimeTrix, available on MediaCorp’s internet video on demand portal MOBTV.sg. AnimeTrix is offering the widest range of legal content online outside of Japan, and is seen as a move to beat the rampant problem of illegal downloading highlighted by Singapore – based anime distributor Odex on behalf of the companies it represents. Japanese senior management of Bandai Channel, TV Tokyo, Sunrise and MICO were amongst the distinguished guests who graced the MediaCorp – Odex Signing Ceremony on Monday 21 July 2008. Says Chang Long Jong, Deputy CEO (Television) of MediaCorp, “With this collaboration, we are better able to cater to the entertainment needs and changing lifestyles of our audiences.” Subscription – based service AnimeTrix became available on MOBTV.sg from 21 July 2008, costing S$10 (US$7.35) per month.
