London – Viacom Inc-owned MTV Networks International (MTVNI), has promoted Bhavneet Singh to executive vice president and managing director of its Emerging Markets group. Based in London and reporting to Alex Ferrari, chief operating officer, MTVNI, Singh continues to oversee all aspects of MTVNI’s businesses across music, kids and comedy brands in Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East, along with Russia, a new addition to his remit. Key priorities for 2008 include strengthening the company’s digital media offering and expanding the scale and presence of Nickelodeon and Comedy Central channel brands. Since joining MTVNI’s Emerging Markets group in 2006, Singh has consolidated assets with the merger and development of the company’s Polish operations MTV Networks Polska; and has been responsible for channel launches including the Polish Comedy Central channel; MTVNI’s first pan-European HD channel which will launch in 2008; MTV Arabia which debuted November 2007; and the upcoming launch of Nickelodeon Arabia, a localized, Arabic language free-to-air channel for children across the Middle East. Besides launching MTV operations in Turkey, Hungary and Ukraine, Singh provided oversight of digital media services in the region such as MTV On-Demand in Romania, a Hebrew-language broadband MTV service in Israel and three mobile TV channels.
