Hong Kong – Some 480 exhibitors from 30 territories worldwide including pavilions of Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, China, and Canada, as well as Hong Kong majors including TVBI, ATV, Mei Ah Entertainment, Media Asia, Emperor Motion Pictures were in attendance at the 12th Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART), held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from March 17-20,2008. 4,800 buyers are also expected to attend the four-day event. Showcasing the latest film and TV productions, digital entertainment applications, filming locations and post production services, Hong Kong FILMART targets to promote the Special Administrative region as Asia Pacific’s film and TV production and distribution hub. Seminars and conferences are being held alongside the film and TV market to explore digital distribution, Asian co-productions, the Guangdong, China film market, and film merchandising business in the era of new technology. A market survey being conducted onsite to gauge participants’ opinion of the film and TV industry will see results released on March 20, 2008. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council, FILMART is one of nine events under the Entertainment Expo Hong Kong umbrella including the 6th Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum, the second Asian Film Awards presented on March 17, 2008, and the 32nd Hong Kong International Film Festival.
