Singapore – Electronic Arts (EA), an interactive entertainment software company, and IAHGames, a Singapore-based provider of online entertainment software and services in Southeast Asia, have partnered to launch and operate EA Sports FIFA Online 2 in Asia Pacific. Game is to be released by Q3 2008 in Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam; with seven other Asia Pacific countries to follow. The announcement was made on March 7, 2008 at a press conference at EA’s new Asia headquarters in Singapore. The new game follows the EA Sports FIFA Online game already available in Korea, as well as EA’s online partnerships with Asian operators including Neowiz in South Korea, GigaMedia in Taiwan, and The9 in China. Under the deal, game operator IAHGames will work with EA development and publishing teams to provide support services including marketing, community management, customer and technical support. EA Sports FIFA Online 2 is the new online version of the FIFA football game franchise. The original EA Sports FIFA Online game, developed by EA Canada and Neowiz Games Corporation registered over 5million players and was the top mid-session sports game in Korea. EA Sports FIFA Online 2 is expected to deliver authentic game play, complete customization and a new manager mode in the game that mirrors real world players and matches. Jon Niermann, president of EA Asia said, “Football is a hugely popular sport in Asia and the FIFA game franchise has already garnered an unmatched appeal for football fans around the world. We are confident that FIFA Online will continue its wave of success across Asia.”
