Singapore – StarHub’s cable TV service customer base has grown 4% from Q3 to reach 504,000 households at end-December 2007. The subs brings cable household penetration in Singapore to 45%. StarHub Digital Cable customers expanded 27% to 408,000 households, or 81% of the total cable TV customer base. Announcing the group’s Q4-2007 and full year financial results, StarHub reported that revenue from cable TV grew 9% to S$342million (US$242.1million) in 2007 from S$313million (US$221.6million) riding on a 6% growth in ARPU to S$51 (US$36) from S$48 (US$34). Cable TV contributed 17% of the total operating revenue of S$2billion (US$1.4billion). Mobile, broadband, fixed network services and sales of equipment contributed 52%, 12%, 14% and 5% respectively to the overall revenue. Also the percentage of ‘Hubbing’ households, customers subscribing to two or more StarHub services stands at 52%, with 38% subscribing to all three services. Overall, StarHub’s 2007 full-year operating revenue increased 12% to exceed S$2billion (US$1.4billion), while Q4-2007 revenue grew 14% to S$539million (US$381.6million). The Group’s EBITDA for Q4 grew 8% to S$157million (US$111.2million) from S$146million (US$103.4million) in 2006. On a full-year basis, EBITDA rose 12% to S$643million (US$455.3million) from S$575million (US$407.1million) in 2006, while EBITDA margin as a percentage of service revenue edged to 33.7% from 33.6%. Separately, StarHub won exclusive broadcast rights to the 2008 UEFA European Football Championship (EURO 2008) taking place in Austria and Switzerland from June 7-29, 2008. Rights cover live telecasts of all 31 matches from the group phase to the final, as well as opening and closing ceremonies. The company is also planning to offer all EURO 2008 matches in HD. Details on StarHub’s EURO 2008 offerings will be announced at a later date. StarHub’s rights to EURO 2008 add to exclusive broadcast rights for three seasons of the Barclays Premier League (BPL) football in Singapore which commenced in the current season. StarHub currently offers a total of 10 dedicated sports channels and selected sports events on its Pay-Per-View and Demand TV platforms.
