Taipei – Disney Channel has launched Disney Channel@Play in Taiwan on Jan 25, its first broadband service in Asia Pacific and the third such service worldwide. Disney Channel@Play offers full-length, Mandarin-dubbed, Chinese subtitled episodes of its animated and live-action series including streamed episodes of Disney Channel original series Hannah Montana, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, That’s So Raven, Kim Possible and Emperor’s New School, as well as Playhouse Disney preschool series Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins and Handy Manny through its online broadband player at www.disney.com.tw/DisneyChannel/video At launch, selected episodes are available and the site will be refreshed weekly. Users can pick shows and create their own program list. Users can also choose the language to watch the shows in and screen size. The “What’s New” function also highlights the latest shows available. Original content exclusive to Disney Channel@Play is also being produced. For Chinese New Year in Feb 2008, the year of the Mouse, a specially produced music video of the song Little VIP by Taiwanese boy band Fahrenheit will be streamed on the service. Dai Hua, Vice President and Managing Director of Walt Disney Television International (Greater China region) said, “This development extends the kids’ Disney Channel experience and gives us the chance to offer them Disney Channel content whenever and however they wish to access it.”
