Sydney – Popular satirical television show The Chaser, which airs on Australia’s ABC TV has attracted considerable outside interest following its APEC stunt. The attention-grabbing fake motorcade saw some cast and crew members, one dressed as Osama bin Laden, arrested in Sydney for breaching security checkpoints. According to local press reports, the show is already screening in five countries and 15 more have shown interest. Karen Dasey, manager of Program Sales Worldwide for ABC Commercial Television, is reported as saying that stations in Iran (Iranian public broadcaster IRIB), Russia, Indonesia, India, Romania, Japan, Germany, the USA, Canada, Denmark, France and the United Arab Emirates are among those interested in buying an international version of the show. Those who have already bought the show and are screening it are Yes TV in Israel, TVNZ in New Zealand, YLE in Finland, NRK in Norway and KBS in Korea. It is also part of the inflight entertainment package bought by Qantas and Singapore Airlines. This year, The Chaser’s War On Everything consistently won its timeslot with about 1.5 million viewers a week.
