EuroNews has won the European Union’s call for tenders to extend its news channel offering to produce and broadcast programming in Arabic, the eighth language version by EuroNews. The Arabic service will be launched in 2008 and broadcast across EuroNews’ network of 35 satellites to be available worldwide. EuroNews currently broadcasts in seven languages including English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. In launching the Arabic version, EuroNews looks to cater to Arabic-speaking Europeans, and extend distribution to Arabic-speaking countries.
