Hong Kong — ViDeOnline Communication (Asia) Limited launched its VOD service last month on IPTV and broadband platforms in Taiwan, branded hiChannel, in league with Chunghwa Telecom. The line-up includes movie and drama channels and Bloomberg TV. ViDeOnline will enter China this month in partnership with a major ISP. Samson Lee, VDO Country Manager for Hong Kong and Taiwan, confirmed the movie service in China will be download-to-rent, not to own, but declined to give further details. In Hong Kong in March, VDO and Hutchison Global Communications Limited (HGC) launched hgc.o8media.com, billed as the territory’s first online service to offer legal Hollywood and Asian movies, music and music video content on a single platform.
