Hong Kong- Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Ltd (AsiaSat) and Total Media Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Worldcall and First Capital Group of Companies in Pakistan, have formalized a lease agreement for C-band capacity on AsiaSat 3S to distribute WIKKID Plus, Pakistan’s first indigenous children’s channel, to all rebroadcast networks across Pakistan and 50 other countries and regions under AsiaSat 3S’s C-band footprint. Having commenced free-to-air broadcast via AsiaSat 3S, WIKKID Plus, for children aged 2-14, carries educational and entertainment programs for children, with 60% of the programming produced locally in Urdu language, the remainder as foreign shows in English. Its range of programs includes story reading, puppet shows, quiz show, travelogues, adventure, music shows, talk shows, cooking, “kids” news, cartoons and drama series. According to Naila Bhatti, COO of WIKKID Plus, AsiaSat 3S’s coverage has enabled Wikkid Plus to extend its service from Lahore to the entire country, as well as to other Asian countries under AsiaSat 3S’s region wide footprint.
