Hong Kong – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) has signed an MOU to establish the Hong Kong Digital Terrestrial Television Local Testing Group (DTTG) with the Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), Television Broadcasts Ltd (TVB), Asia Television Ltd (ATV), and Rohde and Schwarz Hong Kong Ltd (R&S). For testing of set-top boxes and digital TV sets, HKSTP’s Wireless Communications Test Lab will provide the DTV testing facility and service for receiver functional validation and ensure compliance with the recently selected National Standard (GB20600 – 2006). DTV receivers are expected to be available to consumers when the service launches. ATV and TVB will deliver digital programming compliant with the National Standard, provide experience in transmission testing as well as the operators’ perspective on viewers’ demands.
