Hong Kong – Animax, the anime-focused youth entertainment channel, has launched Animax Mobile in Asia following the launch in Canada and Australia earlier this year. Currently available in Hong Kong on SmarTone-Vodafone’s FoneTV mobile TV service, Animax Mobile is also slated for launch in Taiwan in early November with talks currently ongoing with various Taiwanese carriers. Animax Mobile is a monthly subscription-based service that streams Japanese anime series in its full length to mobile users. Targeting the youth market, specifically the 15–35 demographic group, Animax Mobile serves up four popular Japanese anime series in its English dubbed versions at launch for mobile users to enjoy. Titles include Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, Blood+, R.O.D. the TV and Last Exile. In addition to full-length episodes shown in a two-hour loop, anime is also available in short clips of 5 – 7 minutes.
