Hong Kong– Vietnam’s VTV3 and Indonesia’s Trans TV have picked up the format rights to Sony Pictures Television International’s (SPTI) Karaoke Showdown to bring the show to Asia for the first time. The Vietnamese and Indonesian adaptations of the show are currently in pre-production in both countries. Karaoke Showdown is a music genre variety show which divides contestants or celebrities into teams to compete in guessing the titles of songs sung by individuals without the instrumental track. The show has proven popular among European audiences as Danish viewers earned the show a share of 77% when it debuted in 2005 and was renewed for a second season in 2006. It has also been formatted in Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Norway, Poland, Russia, and Serbia.
