London – Raymund Miranda has been appointed Managing Director, Asia, Global Networks for NBC-Universal, based in Singapore, effective Nov.1 2007. Miranda will be responsible for launching the commercial operations for Global Networks in Asia and for building NBC Universal’s channels relationships in the region. Two new channels, Sci-Fi and general entertainment Universal Channel, are expected to be unveiled to the region at the end of October. NBC Universal recently announced the proposed buy-out of Sparrowhawk Media. After that acquisition closes, the organizational structure for the combined group will be assessed over the next few months in full collaboration between Sparrowhawk and NBC Universal. Roma Khanna, President, Global Networks & Digital Initiatives, described Asia as a very important area of focus for the development of NBCU International, and Miranda’s new role as important to the ongoing global expansion of the international channels, which are a high priority growth initiative for NBC Universal.
