Singapore / Hong Kong- Disney Channel’s premiere of High School Musical 2 on September 9 on its Asia feed took top ratings among youth demographics in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. In Singapore, against all subscription TV and free-to-air programs, High School Musical 2 was the top telecast among all cable subscribers on its premiere day. Among children 4-14 in subscriber homes, High School Musical achieved a rating of 22.11 and a share of 48.5%. High School Musical 2 is the highest rated telecast on Disney Channel among cable children 4-14 since April 2001. The show is also the top movie on any pay-TV channel and is the fourth highest rated movie across all channels. In Malaysia, High School Musical 2 was the top telecast among Astro subscriber children 6-14, against all channels including pay-TV and free-to-air, with a 11.03 rating and 26.6% share. It is the highest rated telecast on Disney Channel among children 6-14 in Malaysia since April 2005. Among Malay kids, there was a 35% increase in viewership from the first movie’s premiere last year, with High School Musical 2 available in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
