Discovery and Visa premiere ‘Unexpected’ series

September 24, 2007 by TVA Editor

Singapore/Beijing – Discovery Networks Asia, together with Visa, premiered six short films at the Wanda Cinema in Beijing. The short films are the result of a four-month program ‘A Journey of Adventures and Dreams,’ which aims to showcase some of China’s top filmmaking talent. Travel Satellite TV will air the short films on the Discovery Travel & Living block from Sept. 27 to Nov. 1. On April 24, six young Chinese filmmakers were chosen to produce a series of five-minute short films with the theme ‘The Unexpected’, shot in six former Olympic host cities – Rome, Seoul, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Tokyo, and Sydney. Of the six chosen, four – Zhao Liang, Long Miaoyuan, Xu Jun and Liu Chang – were winners of Discovery Channel’s First Time Filmmakers China initiative. The other two are independent filmmaker Lai He and the director team of Johnny Tan/Kelly Pon.
