Sydney- Atlab, Australasia’s biggest film processing and postproduction laboratory group, is bringing Efilm to Australia in an alliance with the US-based digital postproduction firm. Efilm Australia’s operation in Sydney will open in October, and a Melbourne branch is planned for 2008. Efilm will absorb Atlab’s digital design department and film resolution digital intermediate service, as well as offering new services including standard and high definition rushes transfers and digital dailies, editorial services, tape-to-tape transfers and a range of other HD postproduction operations through to e-cinema mastering. “Although we have been offering some creative and expert digital post services for sometime, including working on such projects as the sound for Happy Feet and Digital Intermediate work on films like Home Song Stories and December Boys, the Efilm alliance provides in Australia the top end services and facilities Australia needs to meet the demands of this sector,” Efilm Australia’s NSW General Manager Anthos Simon said.
