Tokyo / Singapore / Hong Kong- myMTV, Japan’s first mobile entertainment social networking service was launched on August 1 by Viacom International Japan K.K., a 100% owned subsidiary of MTV Networks, in partnership with Septeni Holdings Co., a Japan-based digital ad sales group. myMTV uses a downloadable application to enable simultaneous video-viewing and page-browsing on mobile. Members can create personalized profile pages with exclusive artwork provided by Japanese graphic designers, upload and share video taken on their mobile phones and link to pages created by their friends or content providers, including professional recording artists. The ad-supported service is free of charge to consumers and available on Japan’s mobile operators NTT DoCoMo, KDDI and Softbank Mobile to potentially reach 75 million 3G phones. Japanese artists participating in the launch of the service with their profile pages include Kreva, Rize, and Ryukyudisko. MTV Japan VJs and artistes featuring on MTV Japan will also be involved. myMTV features programming from MTV including Pimp My Ride, and Japanese productions such as Usavich.
