Sydney- Courtney Gibson, Head of Arts, Entertainment and Comedy at Australia’s ABC TV, has been promoted to the network’s Executive Head Content Creation. This newly-created position will see Gibson lead and manage ABC TV’s content development and production across all genres, except children’s. Kim Dalton, Director of Television said “This is a demanding new role, which requires an extensive array of skills, including leadership, creativity, strategic content planning, and the ability to maximise co-production funding.” Gibson joined ABC TV in 2003 and has led the department which has produced and commissioned some of the network’s most successful programming including Spicks & Specks, The Chasers War on Everything, New Inventors, Summer Heights High, We Can Be Heroes, The Einstein Factor, First Tuesday Book Club and Sunday Arts. She spent 1989 -1996 in the UK as a producer on Channel 4 programs including The Big Breakfast (1992-95) and The Girlie Show, as well as daily talks programs for SKY News. She will take up her new position on November 5.
