Singapore – Al Jazeera Managing Director Nigel Parsons has said he is confident the Qatar-based news network will be successful in its bid to launch in Singapore. Al Jazeera has applied to Singapore’s broadcast industry regulator, the Media Development of Singapore (MDA) for a licence to broadcast on SingTel’s newly-launched IPTV pay-TV service. The MDA has been quoted as saying that the network’s application was being assessed “based on criteria such as public expectations, as well as the ability to meet local programme standards.”
