Singapore – After failing to strike a deal with ESPN STAR Sports, StarHub has opted to produce its own ‘Football Channel’ to air English Premier League soccer. The new channel will be packaged by Hong Kong’s Goal TV, in association with Ten Sports in Dubai. ‘Live’ matches and magazine programmes will be produced by TWI, while EPL highlights, studio previews, half-time studio shows and match summary shows will be produced by Goal TV and Ten Sports. December 2006 saw StarHub beat ESPN STAR Sports and SingTel to the EPL rights, with a bid of US$150 million.
