Sydney- Ben Batstone-Cunningham, co-author of Second Life: The Official Guide, and a former Linden Lab programmer and scripting expert, will give a keynote speech at 2007 SPAA Fringe, an initiative of the Screen Producer’s Association of Australia (SPAA) which serves as a forum for emerging producers to gain knowledge, be inspired and evoke innovation. SPAA Fringe will run October 26-27 at Paddington Town Hall and the nearby Chauvel Cinema in Sydney. SPAA Executive Director Geoff Brown said the event allows out-there film projects and their filmmakers to come in from the cold and learn about the mainstream industry in a lively and challenging way, without compromising their creativity. For four years from 2002, Batstone-Cunningham contributed to almost every aspect of the development of the virtual world, with an emphasis on educating and inspiring users to use built-in content creation. He now makes films using Second Life to create sets and avatars as actors. In 2007 he founded Alt-Zoom Studios, www.alt-zoom.com. He’s also known for his digital persona Buhbuhcuh Fairchild.
